The Homicide Unit is working to identify and arrest the suspect(s) in a fatal shooting early Saturday morning in Lewisdale. The victim is 44-year-old Angel Olivares of Capitol Heights. Two women were also shot in this incident.
On July 31, 2021, at approximately 3:20 am, patrol officers responded to the 6700 block of 22nd Place for a shooting. Once on scene, officers located a van that had crashed. Olivares was found in the driver’s seat suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The two additional victims had also been shot while in the van. Both are believed to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives are working to establish a motive and identify suspect(s) in the case.
