Bank Robbery Investigation

We’re starting Wanted Wednesday with our search for a suspect who robbed the same bank within one month’s time. On September 14^th, the suspect walked into a branch in the 9000 block of Livingston Road in Fort Washington. The investigation reveals he approached a teller and demanded money before fleeing. On August 17^th, the suspect is believed to have robbed the same bank. Anyone with information on his identity is asked to call 301-772-4905 or 1-866-411-TIPS. A cash reward is being offered.

Theft Investigation

Please take a good look at these two suspects. They are wanted for a shoplifting that occurred on September 13^th in the 6000 block of Marlboro Pike. The suspects stole several items from a grocery store. If you know how we can find them, please call 301-390-2168 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Tipsters do not have to give their name and could be eligible for a cash reward.

Breaking & Entering Investigation

Up next, an investigation into a breaking and entering in Brandywine. On September 11^th, at approximately 3:55 am, at least two suspects broke into a building in the 13000 block of Cherry Tree Crossing Road. Once inside, the suspects stole several items. Anyone with information is urged to call 301-868-8773.

Gas Station Robbery  

We are also looking for this armed suspect who robbed a gas station. On September 16^th, at approximately 8:45 pm, the suspect targeted the business in the 15000 block of Livingston Road in Accokeek. The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s help in finding a missing teen. She is identified as 15-year-old Janee Monique Deville. She was last seen on September 4^th in the Lanham area but is most recently believed to be in New York City.

Deville is described as a black female, 5’6”, and 120 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white shirt and khaki pants.

On Thursday, Chief Stawinski provided an update in the investigation into the execution of a search warrant that resulted in the wounding of two Prince George's County Police officers. Please click on the link above to hear the latest in the investigation. 

One of the two wounded PGPD officers was treated and released from the hospital. The second officer remains hospitalized and is undergoing treatment for an injury to the arm and face. Both of the officers are assigned to the Special Operations Division. 

In a separate update, the Internal Affairs Division’s Special Investigation Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the discharge of one officer’s weapon during the execution of the search warrant, as discussed by the Chief.  The officer, Corporal Daniel Siculietano, fired one time after the resident shot and wounded the two officers as the team of officers was making entry into the home.  No one was hit by the shot fired from Siculietano’s weapon.  He is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation which is standard procedure.  He has been with the department for seven years and is currently assigned to our Special Operations Division.  All cases involving officers discharging their weapons are reviewed by the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.  

As Chief Stawinski explained earlier, upon conferring with the State’s Attorney, no charges will be filed against the resident in this case.

The entire incident remains under investigation.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Langley Park. The victim is 43-year-old Domingo Hernandez-Vasquez of no fixed address. 

On September 22nd, at approximately 9:50 pm, patrol officers responded to the 7900 block of New Hampshire Avenue for a collision involving a pedestrian. The pedestrian, an adult male, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He died of his injuries on September 24^th.  The driver of the involved car remained on the scene.

The investigation reveals the driver was traveling northbound on New Hampshire Avenue. The pedestrian was struck as he tried to cross over New Hampshire Avenue. Preliminarily, it appears the victim was in or near the crosswalk but appears he was walking against the pedestrian signal.

Tyrone Smith, Jr.

The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a recent fatal shooting in Suitland. The suspect is 38 -year-old Tyrone Smith, Jr. of the 600 block of Emmanuel Court in Northwest Washington. He’s charged with fatally shooting 50-year-old Anthony Burress of Walters Lane in District Heights.

On September 2^nd, at approximately 11:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the 3600 block of Silver Park Drive for a report of a shooting. Officers discovered Burress suffering from gunshot wounds. He died on September 14^th. The victim’s death was ruled a homicide due to complications from the shooting.

The preliminary investigation reveals the fatal shooting stemmed from a dispute.

Smith is charged with first and second degree murder and additional charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Correctionson a no-bond status.

Theft Investigation

Detectives are working to identify this suspect who is wanted in connection with a theft at a cell phone store. The preliminary investigation reveals on July 25^th, at approximately 10:25 am, the suspect stole a phone from the store in the 6000 block of New Hampshire Avenue. If you recognize this suspect, please call detectives at 301-699-2601. 

Theft Suspect

Our next case takes us to Adelphi. Detectives are investigating a theft at a drugstore in the 1800 block of East West Highway on September 12^th.  The preliminary investigation reveals the pictured suspect and a second suspect stole cash from the business. Convenience Store Theft

The next suspect is wanted for a theft at a convenience store in Landover. On September 17^th, at approximately 3:00 am, the preliminary investigation reveals the pictured suspect took several items from the store in the 7000 block of Landover Road. Theft Suspects

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Camp Springs on Wednesday. The victim is 79-year-old Louis Rogers Sr. of Broad Creek Drive in Fort Washington.

On September 26th, at approximately 9:30 am, patrol officers were called to the 6300 block of Old Branch Avenue for a fatal collision involving a single vehicle.

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim was driving a hearse on Old Branch Avenue approaching Allentown Road, when for reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle ultimately struck a concrete median. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Greenbelt. The victim is 43-year-old Derrick Gordon of Fort Lincoln Drive in Northeast Washington. 

On September 27th, at approximately 9:05 am, patrol officers were called to Greenbelt Road and Kenilworth Avenue for a fatal collision involving multiple vehicles.  

The preliminary investigation reveals Gordon was heading  westbound on Greenbelt Road approaching Kenilworth Avenue, when for reasons that remain under investigation, his car struck another car in the rear and then struck a bus. Two additional vehicles were then involved in chain-reaction collisions. Gordon was pronounced dead on the scene. Several additional drivers and passengers involved in this incident were injured. Preliminarily, none of their injuries appears life-threatening.

This is perhaps proof there is no such thing as a perfect crime. Detectives are working to find the bandit who threw a brick or large rock at a business but ended up hitting himself. The incident was caught on the restaurant’s surveillance system.

On September 20^th, the suspect successfully shattered the front glass window of the carryout business in the 4000 block of Suitland Road. But that’s when his luck ran out. The suspect used the same brick or rock to then try to break what turned out to be bulletproof glass protecting the front counter. He tried three times. On the third attempt, the brick or rock flew back at him, appearing to hit him in the head. The suspect fell to the ground where he laid for a few minutes. He eventually got up and left the business.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle in Cheverly. The victim is 44-year-old Christopher McClain of 39^th Place in Colmar Manor.

On October 1^st, at approximately 3:30 pm, officers responded to the intersection of Old Landover Road and 65^th Avenue for the report of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle. McClain, who was operating the motorcycle, and his passenger were rushed to local hospitals. McClain was pronounced dead a short time later.

The preliminary investigation reveals the motorcycle was heading westbound on Old Landover Road approaching the intersection at 65^th Avenue. The involved car was heading eastbound on Old Landover Road approaching the same intersection. Preliminarily, it appears the car attempted to make a left turn onto northbound 65^thAvenue in the path of the approaching motorcycle. McClain applied his brakes in an attempt to avoid a collision. His motorcycle went into a slide. McClain’s passenger, a young child, suffered what appear to be non-life threatening injuries. The car’s driver wasn’t injured and remained on scene.

We’re starting Wanted Wednesday this week with a case out of Beltsville. This suspect is wanted in connection with a theft investigation. The preliminary investigation reveals a suspect took multiple items from two cars on Powder Mill Road on September 8^th. If you recognize him, please call 301-937-0910.

Theft Suspect

Please take a good look at these photos. Our preliminary investigation reveals this suspect stole a purse from a victim who was pumping gas at a station on Bladensburg Road on September 27^th. The suspect crept over to the victim’s car and took a purse. A short time later, the pictured suspect used a stolen credit card at a drugstore. Please call us if you know this suspect. Burglary Suspect

Early this morning, our School Resource Officer assigned to High Point High School in Beltsville was alerted to a deceased baby in a school bathroom. The preliminary investigation reveals the baby was delivered today. Detectives are now working to determine whether the baby was a stillbirth. An autopsy is planned. The female who delivered the baby was located at the school and is receiving medical care. Due to the sensitive nature of this investigation, there are no additional details we can share at this time.

Detectives with our Homicide Unit are actively investigating a fatal shooting in Lanham that occurred on Wednesday night. The victim is 28-year-old Anthony Freeland of Minnesota Avenue in Southeast Washington.A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Tipsters will never have to give their name.Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime.

On October 3^rd, at approximately 9:35 pm, patrol officers were called to the 6500 block of Manton Way in Lanham for a shooting.  Upon their arrival, officers discovered Freeland outside on a sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a collision in Beltsville that took place in May. One of the involved drivers died of his injuries earlier this month. He is 57-year-old Rodney Wood of 3^rd Street in Southeast Washington.  

On May 26^th, at approximately 4:40 am, patrol officers were called to the 3100 block of Powder Mill Road for a collision.

The preliminary investigation revealsWood was driving a car southbound on Powder Mill Road and a truck was heading northbound. For reasons which remain under investigation, the truck crossed over the double yellow line and struck Wood’s car. Wood was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries. He died on October 3^rd.  The truck’s driver was not hurt.

Robbery Suspect

We’re starting Wanted Wednesday this week with our search for a suspect wanted for a robbery in District Heights. Our preliminary investigation reveals the suspect approached a victim on Marlboro Pike on September 20^th shortly before 10:00 pm. The suspect displayed a weapon and stole the victim’s property. The victim was not hurt. Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to call 301-772-4425 or 1-866-411-TIPS. You will not have to give your name and could be eligible for a cash reward.

Theft from Auto Investigation

Our detectives are also working to identify this suspect. He’s wanted in connection with a theft from an auto that occurred on Brooklyn Bridge Road in  Laurel on August 5^th.  The suspect who broke into the car took a wallet and cash. Convenience Store Robbery

Robbery Unit detectives are investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store in Camp Springs. The suspect entered the store on Auth Road on October 7^th at approximately 11:25 am and jumped the counter. The suspect demanded cash. He then ran from the store. This suspect is wanted for displaying a weapon and demanding cash at a drugstore in Adelphi. This robbery took place on October 7th,  at approximately 7:50 pm, at a store on East-West Highway. The preliminary investigation reveals the suspects posed as customers prior to committing the robbery. One of the suspects had a gun, the other had pepper spray. The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Suitland. The victim is 71-year-old Blanche Jones of Bock Road in Oxon Hill. 

On October 9^th, at approximately 1:00 pm, patrol officers were called to Silver Hill Road near Brooks Drive for a pedestrian collision.

The preliminary investigation reveals the involved car was heading northbound on Silver Hill Road when it struck the victim as she attempted to cross the roadway. Jones was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later. The driver of the car was not hurt and remained on scene. Preliminarily, it appears the victim was in the crosswalk at the time. Investigators are now working to determine who had the right of way.

Suspended PGPD Officer Charged With Rape

A suspended Prince George’s County Police officer is now in custody and facing multiple charges including first degree rape, second degree rape and second degree assault. Police Officer First Class Ryan Macklin was taken into custody this evening. He is accused of sexually assaulting an adult female driver during a recent traffic stop.

The preliminary investigation reveals Macklin pulled over the driver early Thursday morning on University Boulevard in Langley Park. During that stop, Macklin is accused of forcing the victim to perform a sexual act while they were both seated in her car in a nearby parking lot. Macklin was on-duty, in uniform, and driving a marked police cruiser at the time. At this point in the investigation, there is no evidence as to why he targeted this victim. Investigators released this brief surveillance video where POFC Macklin can be seen activating his emergency equipment on his cruiser in order to initiate the traffic stop in question.

“The charges against this officer are highly troubling. Officers take an oath to protect others, not to abuse their authority in order to victimize someone. Those who live and work in Prince George’s County deserve the very best from the men and women of this department,” said Chief Hank Stawinski.

The PGPD’s Special Investigation Response Team is leading this investigation and is working closely with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Macklin has been with the department for six years and is assigned to the Bureau of Patrol. He’s charged with a total of five charges – first degree rape, second degree rape, perverted practice, second degree assault and fourth degree sex offense.

Armed Robbery at Drugstore

Up first this week, a robbery at a drugstore. Detectives are working to identify and arrest these two pictured suspects. They are wanted for robbing the drugstore on Livingston Road in Fort Washington on Monday night. The preliminary investigation reveals one of the suspects pulled out a gun while the second suspect jumped the counter. The suspects stole prescription medication. Detectives are also working to identify these two suspects who recently broke into a rental car facility. They targeted the business in the 9000 block of Lanham Severn Road in Lanham on October 12^th at approximately 1:30 am. The suspects made it into the business but weren’t able to steal money. Rental Car Business Burglary 

Detectives believe a suspect in the case out of Lanham may have targeted a second rental car business as well - this time in the 7900 block of Annapolis Road. In the early morning hours of October 12^th, this suspect broke into the business but again wasn’t able to steal any money. Convenience Store Attempted Robbery

And finally, this attempted robbery suspect targeted a convenience store in Suitland. On October 14^th, he jumped the counter of the business in the 4900 block of Silver Hill Road. Detectives continue to investigate a fatal shooting in Temple Hills on Wednesday. The deceased man is 55-year-old David William Taylor, Sr. of 28^th Avenue in Temple Hills.

On October 17th, at approximately 8:05 am, officers were called to the 4300 block of 23^rd Place in Temple Hills for a welfare check of an unresponsive man in a backyard. When officers arrived, they discovered Taylor suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene. 

The preliminary investigation reveals a resident in another home in the same neighborhood shot Taylor after it’s believed he broke into the resident’s home. It appears that after being shot, Taylor fled and collapsed several houses away.

Detectives have identified and interviewed the resident. Detectives are in consultation with the State's Attorney's Office regarding any potential criminal charges in this case.
