Breaking & Entering Suspect 


Do you recognize him? We’re hoping you do and can help us find him. He’s wanted in connection with a burglary at a home on Pine Way in College Park on December 11, 2014. He broke into the home and made off with several pieces of electronics. The tipster who helps us make an arrest in this case could be eligible for a cash reward. Cell Phone Theft



They are a popular holiday gift idea – maybe that’s why this suspect snatched cell phones from a store on December 4, 2014. The store is in the 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road in Hyattsville. Know where we can find him? Please call 301-699-2601.



Robbery Suspect

We are also working to identify this suspect. He’s wanted for a robbery in the 9900 block of Greenbelt Road in Lanham on December 12, 2014.  Detectives believe it’s possible the suspect has shortened his hair since this photo was taken. Convenience Store Robberies




Cash and sandwiches. That’s what two robbery suspects stole from a convenience store in the 6800 block of Livingston Road in Oxon Hill on December 12, 2014. The armed robbery was caught on surveillance video. One of the suspects forced an employee to open a register, while the second suspect helped himself to a few sandwiches.  The suspects then sped away in the silver or gold-colored SUV that’s seen in the below surveillance picture.


Robbery unit detectives are also working to solve an armed robbery at a convenience store on December 14, 2014, in the 3700 block of Branch Avenue in Temple Hills. The suspects walked into the store wearing masks. They order the employees to open the registers. The suspects also stole the car keys belonging to one of the victims. After the robbery, the suspects speed away in the victim’s car – a black, four-door, Pontiac Vibe. Please call 301-772-4905 with any information on this case. 





Attempted Murder Suspect

Our detectives are looking for 26-year-old Roderick Snowden. His last known address is in the 3000 block of Brinkley Road in Temple Hills. Our investigation reveals Snowden stabbed an acquaintance during an argument on December 15, 2014. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. PGPD to Distribute Toys for Tots This Weekend

The gym at Prince George’s County Police headquarters is packed with toys. The PGPD is once again proudly partnering with the United States Marine Corps Reserves to host the Toys for Tots program in Prince George’s County. Each Christmas season, the program collects new, unwrapped toys and distributes them to families in need.  Last year, our community’s generosity helped us distribute more than 50,000 toys to more than 18,000 county children.

Donations are still being accepted for this year’s toy drive and can be dropped off at police headquarters. The thousands of toys already collected will be distributed this Sunday. Unfortunately, the deadline to sign up to receive toys this year has passed. If you are interested in signing up for next year, please visit www.toysfortots.org.

PGPD Investigates Fatal Crash in Fairmount Heights

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash in Fairmount Heights.

On December 18, 2014, at about 9:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Sheriff Road and 61st Avenue for a crash involving a car and a tow truck. When they arrived, they found the car’s driver suffering from critical injuries. She was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The tow truck driver and his passenger were not hurt.

The preliminary investigation reveals the driver of the car was heading westbound on Sheriff Road when she hit the back of the tow truck that was stopped and trying to make a left turn onto 61st Avenue.

The victim’s name will be released once the family is notified.

PGPD Investigates Homicide in Marlow Heights

Updated December 20, 2014: The victim is identified as 49-year-old Shawn Parker of Sweden Court in Clinton.  Detectives are continuing to work to identify the suspect(s) and motive in this case.  A cash reward of up to $25,000 is available for information which leads to an arrest.  Please call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a homicide in Marlow Heights. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. 

On December 19, 2014, at about 12:20 pm, patrol officers were called to the 4800 block of Stamp Road for an assault. When they arrived, they found a man inside a warehouse suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The victim is an employee of the business. 

The preliminary investigation reveals coworkers discovered the victim and called 911. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and motive in this case.

PGPD Searches for Missing Woman

Updated: December 24, 2013: Ms. Harris has been found unharmed and in good health. 



The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing person. She is identified as 86-year-old Gladys Margret Harris. 

Harris was last seen in the 6300 block of Floral Park Road in Clinton on December 23, 2014, at about 6:30 pm. Harris suffers from dementia and may be in need of medication.

Harris is described as an African-American female, 5’7” and 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black coat, beige sweater and blue pants. Harris was last seen driving a grey 2004 Toyota Camry bearing Maryland registration plates of 9DTB57.

Each Wednesday, we release surveillance videos and photos of some of our most wanted suspects from that week. With the help of community tipsters and excellent detective work, many of those cases are closed. This week, we’re putting the spotlight back on a handful of our most wanted suspects for 2014. If you have any information that could help us track them down, please can call 1-866-411-TIPS. Tipsters don’t have to give their name and could be eligible for a substantial cash reward.

Bayron Cruz-Vargas – 1st Degree Murder

Our Homicide Unit is working to find and arrest Bayron Cruz-Vargas. He’s wanted for the murder of 28-year-old Jacinto Perez in Laurel in August. Detectives have already arrested one suspect in this murder. On August 24th, patrol officers were called to Enfield Court for a body found in a bag. Officers discovered a second bag with body parts in it. Perez was later identified as the victim. The suspects and victim were roommates. The investigation reveals the three men got into an argument inside their apartment that turned violent and ultimately escalated to the murder. If you have any information that could help us arrest Cruz-Vargas, please call 301-772-4925 or 1-866-411-TIPS.



Murder of Hollis Bradford Johnson

Homicide Unit detectives are also working to arrest the suspect who shot and killed Hollis Bradford Johnson in Chillum in October. Detectives strongly believe there are citizens who have critical information in this case. Anyone with information is encouraged to call our Crime Solvers line. Tipsters never have to give their name and could be eligible for an up to $25,000 reward.


Detectives released surveillance video of the suspect. Johnson was killed in an entryway of his apartment building on Chillum Road on October 27th. The video shows the suspect approaching the building while the victim unknowingly holds open the door. Seconds later, the suspect shot Johnson and then ran from the building. He sped away in a light-colored, four-door sedan. The car’s windows are tinted and it has halogen headlights. Detectives do not believe the victim and suspect knew each other.

Cheverly Sexual Assault

In October, we released this surveillance video of the suspect we’re looking for in connection with a sexual assault on Annapolis Road. The video was recorded shortly before the assault occurred. On October 20th, at about 8:45 pm, the suspect assaulted a female victim in the 5800 block of Annapolis Road. The suspect is described as a black male, about 35 – 45 years old and approximately 5'9"- 6' tall. He had a beard and wore a dark jacket. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered in this case.




Suitland Sexual Assault Suspect

He sexually assaulted a woman in the 2300 block of Brooks Drive on November 26th. Here’s a composite sketch of the suspect we’re still looking for in that case. Our investigation reveals the man grabbed the woman as she was walking around 11:50 pm. He’s described as a black male, approximately 5’7”, and about 20-30 years old. He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a belt with a large silver buckle. If you have any information, please call 301-772-4908. PGPD Releases Photos of Bank Robbery Suspect

The Prince George’s County Police Department is asking for our community’s help in identifying the suspect seen in these surveillance photos. He’s wanted for a bank robbery in Oxon Hill.

On December 23, 2014, at about 1:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the unit block of Audrey Lane for a robbery. The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect, with a cell phone to his ear, approached a teller and passed a note demanding money.  The teller complied. The suspect then ran from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

PGPD Searches for Missing Man

Glenn Washington 


The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing person. He is identified as 63-year-old Glenn Washington. 

Washington was last seen in the 6500 block of Riggs Road on December 24, 2014, at about 12:30 am. Washington suffers from dementia and may be in need of medication.

Washington is described as an African-American male, 5’7” and 150 pounds. He has a grey mustache and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, green sweater, brown sweat pants and black croc shoes.

PGPD Investigates Homicide in Fairmount Heights

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a homicide in Fairmount Heights. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On December 30, 2014, at about 7:50 am, patrol officers were called to the 1600 block of Woodhill Court for a welfare check call. When they arrived, they found a man inside the home suffering from trauma to the body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The victim lived in the home.

Detectives are searching for a car missing from the crime scene. It’s a black, four-door, 2014 Chrysler 300. It has Virginia tags VDG6069. Detectives are also working to identify the suspect(s) and motive in this case.

PGPD Charges Suspect in Fairmount Heights Murder

Lexus Henderson

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has charged a suspect in connection with the murder of 31-year-old Rafael Frazier. The suspect is 22-year-old Lexus Allen Henderson of the 1200 block of Quincy Street in Northwest Washington.

On December 30, 2014, at about 7:50 am, patrol officers were called to the 1600 block of Woodhill Court for a welfare check call. When they arrived, they found Frazier inside of his home suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals Frazier and Henderson got into an argument in Frazier’s home that escalated to the stabbing. Henderson was located last night in the District driving a car taken from the victim’s home. 

Henderson is charged with first degree murder. He is in custody in the District awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.

PGPD Investigates Homicide in Capitol Heights

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a homicide in Capitol Heights. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. 

On December 31, 2014, at about 1:00 am, patrol officers were called to the 800 block of Balsamtree Drive for the report of a suspicious car in the roadway. When they arrived, they found a taxicab driver inside his cab suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene

Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and motive in this case.

The victim’s name will be released once his family has been notified.

PGPD Investigates Fatal Crash in Aquasco

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Aquasco.  The victim is identified as 32-year-old Shane Beale of Lazy Lane in King George Virginia.
On December 30, 2014, just before 9:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Aquasco Road and Horsehead Road for the report of a crash involving a car and a pickup truck.
The preliminary investigation reveals the driver of the pickup truck was traveling northbound on Horsehead Road and attempted to make a right turn onto eastbound Aquaso Road.  As the truck attempted to negotiate the turn, it struck the car driven by Beale, which was also traveling eastbound on Aquasco Road.
Both drivers were taken to a hospital for injuries believed to be non-life threatening at the time. Beale succumbed to his injuries on December 31, 2014.

PGPD Charges Elected Official with Traffic Offenses

The Prince George’s County Police Department has charged an elected official with several traffic offenses. She is identified as 60-year-old Elaine Scott Williams of Altoona Street in Capitol Heights. She is a councilwoman in the town of Capitol Heights.

On January 2, 2015, at about 10:20 pm, a patrol officer stopped Williams in the 100 block of Capitol Heights Boulevard for a minor traffic violation. During the stop, the officer discovered Williams was driving on a suspended license. Further investigation revealed Williams was also wanted through the Maryland Transportation Authority for failing to appear on a previous traffic violation. Williams was arrested and transported to the Department of Corrections, where she was released on her own recognizance.

PGPD Investigates Residential Robbery in College Park

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a residential robbery in College Park.

On January 4, 2015, at about 9:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the 8500 block of Potomac Avenue for a residential armed robbery. The preliminary investigation suggests three suspects broke into the home and confronted a resident. One of the suspects had a gun. The suspects stole several electronic items. The victim was not hurt.

PGPD to Canvass College Park Neighborhood in Murder Investigation

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit will canvass the College Park neighborhood this evening where a man was shot and killed last week.
 
On January 1, 2015, patrol officers were called to the 9600 block of Milestone Way for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found 22-year-old Stefon Powell in a parking garage suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
 
Detectives will pass out Crime Solvers flyers seeking information in this investigation. The canvass is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered in this case.

PGPD Investigates Fatal Crash in Rosaryville

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Rosaryville.  The victim is identified as 66-year-old Sylvia Freeman of Nacy Lee Lane in Upper Marlboro.

On January 5, 2015, at about 11:10 am, patrol officers were called to the 7300 block of South Osborne Road for a single car accident. When they arrived, they found Freeman suffering from critical injuries. She was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation reveals Freeman was traveling westbound on South Osborne Road when she veered off the roadway and struck a tree.

PGPD Honors Patrol Officers of the Month

PGPD patrol officers are out in our communities day and night, committed to protecting and serving the citizens of Prince George’s County.  They do remarkable work each day, which often goes unnoticed.  We’d like to introduce you to the Patrol Officers of the Month for October.

District I Police Officer of the Month
Police Officer Rion Robinson

On October 9, 2014, Police Officer Rion Robinson was conducting a premises check in the 1500 block of Madison Street after a recent string of stolen cars, thefts from cars and robberies. Officer Robinson spotted a car in a back parking lot of an apartment complex. When he approached to talk to the occupants, he saw an open bottle of alcohol and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. The driver consented to a search which revealed a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat. The gun was reported stolen through Augusta County, Virginia. The driver and two passengers were arrested.



District II Police Officer of the Month
Police Officer Brian Whalen

On October 19, 2014, Police Officer Brian Whalen responded to Brown Station Road and Lords Landing Road in Upper Marlboro for a report of a suspicious man filling glass bottles with gasoline at a gas station. Once he arrived, Officer Whalen spotted the man and saw a glass bottle filled with gasoline inside of his car. Further investigation revealed the suspect was attempting to set fire to a house on Fenway Lane. He had already thrown several bottles onto the house. A resident had a protection order against the suspect. He was arrested.



District III Police Officer of the Month
Corporal Brian Butler

On October 21, 2014, Corporal Brian Butler was in the area of Southern Avenue and Branch Avenue searching for a carjacked car taken earlier in the day. He spotted a matching car, confirmed it was the car that had been carjacked, and tried to make a traffic stop. Instead of stopping, the suspects sped off and then bailed out of the car a short time later. Corporal Butler ran after them and provided a good lookout for the suspects. He then organized a perimeter and coordinated with Air 1 and a K9 team. One of the suspects was located and taken into custody. A handgun was also recovered. Further investigation revealed, the suspects had just committed an armed robbery in a neighboring jurisdiction.



District IV Police Officers of the Month
Police Officer Stephen Downey

Police Officer Matthew Leedy

On October 14, 2014, Police Officers Stephen Downey and Matthew Leedy were flagged down by a citizen in the 3800 block of Saint Barnabas Road in Temple Hills. The victim reported two suspects had just stolen items from her car. The officers canvassed the area and spotted one of the suspects. As the officers approached the car he was in, they smelled suspected marijuana coming from the car. A search revealed crack cocaine and marijuana as well as a handgun inside the car. A check revealed that the gun had been stolen from Orange County, Virginia. While interviewing the first suspect, the second suspect approached the officers. Both suspects were arrested.

Corporal Mark Mason

Police Officer Lyndon Thomas

On October 12, 2014, Corporal Mark Mason and Police Officer Lyndon Thomas were called to the 9800 block of Piscataway Road in Clinton for a carjacking. When they arrived, they immediately began looking for the car which they spotted a short time later. When the suspect saw our officers, he drove a short distance before bailing out of the car. He then ran into some nearby woods. With the assistance of additional patrol officers and the K9 Unit, the suspect was located and arrested.



District VI Police Officers of the Month
Police Officer First Class Rebecca Sprague

Police Officer James Martinez


 On October 12, 2014, Police Officer First Class Rebecca Sprague and Police Officer James Martinez were called to the 10200 block of Riggs Road in Adelphi for the report of a woman with a knife who was threatening suicide. By the time the officers had arrived, the woman had cut herself and was bleeding severely. She refused help from family and had left her home. When Police Officer First Class Sprague and Officer Martinez arrived, they immediately began searching for the woman. They found her nearby. Once the officers determined she was no longer armed, they applied pressure to the woman’s wounds to help control the bleeding until medical personnel arrived. The woman survived her injuries.

Theft at Church

Thou shalt not steal. This next suspect is wanted for snatching a purse from a classroom inside a church in Hyattsville. Our investigation reveals the suspect grabbed the purse shortly before 1:00 pm on January 4, 2015, at a church in the 1400 block of Chillum Road. Theft at Cemetery 

It's hard to imagine a thief taking property from someone who is visiting a cemetery. But that's what our investigation reveals happened on December 14, 2014. We're looking for the suspect in these photos. She's wanted for using a stolen credit card at an upscale department store in McLean, Virginia. The card had been swiped, along with a purse, from a car that was parked at a cemetery in the 3400 block of Bladensburg Road in Colmar Manor. Cell Phone Theft

We'd like to chat with this suspect in connection with the theft of an iPhone. The cell phone was taken on December 13, 2014, from a store in the 8000 block of New Hampshire Avenue. If you know who he is, please give us a call at 301-699-2601.


Cell Phone Store Robbery

These three robbery suspects targeted a cell phone store in the 5700 block of Silver Hill Road in District Heights. This happened at 2:30 pm on January 5, 2015. The suspects demanded cash. Liquor Store Robbery

He wore a mask to rob a liquor store in Capitol Heights. We'll pay reward money to the tipster who helps us uncover his identity. The suspect pulled out a gun and demanded cash from an employee at the store in the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike on January 3, 2015. PGPD patrol officers are out in our communities day and night, committed to protecting and serving the citizens of Prince George’s County.  They do remarkable work each day, which often goes unnoticed.  We’d like to introduce you to the Patrol Officers of the Month for November.

District I Police Officer of the Month
Police Officer Jason Norman

On November 8, 2014, Police Officer Jason Norman conducted a traffic stop in the area of Queens Chapel Road and Chillum Road.  A passenger jumped out of the car and began to run away. Officer Norman saw that the suspect threw a gun to the ground. Police Officer Norman quickly chased and caught the suspect. He also recovered the gun which was loaded. Also, on another traffic stop in the 1500 block of University Boulevard, Police Officer Norman detected the smell of marijuana coming from the car. A search revealed a marijuana pipe, suspected cocaine and a sawed off shotgun. The driver and passenger were arrested.



District II Police Officer of the Month
Police Officer Christopher Smith

On November 1, 2014, Police Officer Christopher Smith was on patrol in the area of Lanham Severn Road and 94th Avenue. Police Officer Smith spotted a pickup truck which matched the description of a wanted vehicle. Police Officer Smith tried to conduct a traffic stop on the truck which took an unusually long time to stop. Officer Smith called for backup. After safely approaching the truck, Police Officer Smith smelled suspected marijuana coming from the truck. The officer also saw a passenger making furtive movements while reaching under the passenger seat. A search of the truck revealed a loaded handgun and marijuana. The driver and passenger were arrested.



District III Police Officers of the Month
Police Officer First Class Shea Jefferson

Police Officer John Jacobs

On November 24, 2014, while on patrol in the area of Marlboro Pike and Southern Avenue, Police Officers First Class Shea Jefferson and John Jacobs observed a dark-colored car which was stolen from the District. The car was linked to two armed robberies in our county and one in a neighboring jurisdiction. The officers tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop. The authorized pursuit continued until the fleeing car hit a fence. Five suspects bailed out of the car. The patrol officers quickly caught two of the suspects. A perimeter was established and Air 1, our aviation unit, responded to assist with the search. Perimeter officers arrested a third suspect nearby and recovered a gun. Air 1 located a fourth suspect hiding under a car and directed ground officers to that location where they were able to make an arrest.



District IV Police Officers of the Month
Police Officer Dale Sollars

Police Officer Christopher Malinowski

On November 23, 2014, Officers Sollars and Malinowski were called to a local business in Oxon Hill to investigate a report of suspicious people on the property. Once the arrived, they began checking the business and saw two men matching the descriptions of the people who prompted the initial call to police. While trying to talk to one of the suspects, he began to run away but was quickly caught. During a pat down, a handgun was recovered.

That gun had recently been stolen form a home in Capitol Heights. The second suspect was caught a short time later. The investigation revealed the suspects had just robbed two customers. The suspects were both arrested. In addition to the gun, they also had illegal drugs.



District V Police Officer of the Month
Police Officer Kyle Negrin

On October 30, 2014, Officer Kyle Negrin was called to the 13000 block of Tower Road in Brandywine for a report of an occupied and suspicious car parked in the street. Once on scene, Officer Negrin noticed the car had a shattered driver’s window. Officer Negrin then noticed a man was asleep inside the car. While talking to the man, Officer Negrin noticed the driver became visibly nervous. While checking into the wanted status of the man, Officer Negrin saw the man making several furtive movements inside the car. For the officer’s safety, the man was removed from the car. A search of the car revealed a loaded handgun on the floorboard. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the suspect had several prior arrests for armed robbery, armed carjacking and assault. He was taken into custody.



District VI Officers of the Month
Corporal Edward Miles

Police Officer Stephen Hull


On November 28, 2014, Corporal Miles and Officer Stephen Hull were called to East Maple Avenue in Beltsville for the report of a man with a gun. When they arrived, they spoke with the victim who said as she was trying to leave a tow lot with her car, another car blocked her. The victim and suspect got into an argument. The suspect pulled a gun from his waistband. The victim was able to walk away unharmed. When Corporal Miles and Officer Hull arrived, they found the suspect sitting in his car on the lot. The officers ordered the man out of the car. A loaded gun was found in the trunk. The suspect was arrested.
